Reason: Causal principles and the universal unity of concepts

Reason is the human ability to think in universal principles, in how they cohere, how they form a coherent unity. Reason goes beyond the intellect, it can reason in causality, but also in other categories. It also operates in thinking about meaningful acting.

Let's think in a new way. We don't proceed from the simplest details to the more complicated ones, with cause and effect as the leading principles, but we start with an ideal image, like an artist does. We try to regard the most complicated, perfect image to be the cause, the full range of development as a full range of effects. Someone, who starts with an education to become a doctor, has the final status as his goal. This way the goal is the cause, and all the efforts to reach the goal are the effects. The cause lies in the future.

You could try to think about evolution in the same way. The brain doesn't accept this, it can only think in sequences of simple to complicated.  But man is able to think with more than his brain. Man can reason. The restrictions of the brain come from the entry of materialism in the 19th century. Reason is not only a brain activity, but is also a power to think in the sequence of concepts, to get the movement of thought.

From this point of view you could try to think in a reverse way about evolution. You could think about the question: How do I imagine the ideal human being? I must try to forget the more problematic sides of humanity, and focus on an ideal human being, a being that developed a certain perfection. If I could imagine this state as a starting point, not as an end result, I could forget my thoughts about nature, about earth, about the cosmos as a technical mechanic - and could see it for an instance as a work of art. The goal, the effect would be the cause.

It is not my intention to change our view on the world completely. We would find many objections to our own new vision. The intention  is, to develop a certain creativity, playfulness in thinking. By this creative thinking we could see evolution as a work of art. The ideal human being has been the cause of our development...
