If we can believe the truth in a story like the one I told last week, we are confronted with a riddle. In my practice as a doctor and also in reports from colleagues I know about several cases that are more or less similar to the one I told last week. Once in a while a tumour, even a tumour with metastases, vanishes without therapy. If such a patient returns to the hospital for an examination, and there is no sign of a tumour whatsoever anymore, usually the first diagnosis is called into doubt. I never experienced the doctors saying: “Well, this is a miraculous healing!” They start to doubt, whether there could have been a fault in the reports, in the investigations and so on. But sometimes the patient him or herself has seen the damage in his or her body, for instance on ultrasound images. Or there were such serious complaints - that have vanished - that there really is no other conclusion possible than: the cancer has been cured without therapy. There are of course alternative therapies that report successes. In order not to evoke all kinds of discussions, I leave such cures aside here. But there are miraculous cures and they happen in people who don't accept the death sentence or the life-threatening diagnosis.
I would never advise anyone, though, to reject such diagnoses and simply walk away from the hospital. There must be such a real storm in the mind as in the American patient, who simply did not accept the judgment of the doctors. It was not a simple action of going away from hospital. It was a kind of life-reversal, a reform, although without a religious notion. One can sense the force of a storm in such a life-act. Why does this cure a process of degeneration of cells?
In the case of dementia I experience a going away of the spirit from the mental processes. In cancer there is a much deeper 'going away'. The mind has not left the senses and brain-functions, but it leaves the deep forces of growing and structuring the body. Some places in the body are left alone, fully outside its awareness, so the reaction to this aloneness comes on creeping, without being witnessed. The life-processes become abandoned, the spirit and the soul have, unaware, turned away from them in a certain spot that has a predisposition for cancer. In the end life itself also leaves the physical tissue in a way and the proliferative forces go their way without any guidance of 'higher worlds' than the physical.
There are tissues in the body that are almost completely physical in a sound and healthy way. They are so purely physical that we can study them with physical laws like mechanics and optics. These organs are the senses, they have naturally been left alone and are pure physical - it is their healthy status. If in other regions of the body such a state - that is healthy in the senses - enters, this will be the beginning of the development of carcinoma.
If a patient, suffering from this illness, by one way or the other receives the courage to take a step with full will and force, he or she will pulse his body with new life-forces, with soul and spirit powers. It will be as if a storm rages - and the cure has started.
An unexpected way...
